Getting There

Directions to Chough Cottage, Heavitree Road, Kingsand PL10 1NP.

If coming from the west, from the M5 at Exeter take the A38 to Plymouth and enter Cornwall either via the Torpoint ferry, or the Tamar Bridge at Saltash. Both cost £2.60, but only on the way back. The journey time either way is similar.

If going via the Torpoint Ferry from Plymouth to Torpoint:
Continue along A38 on north side of Plymouth until junction with A386, roughly north of the city centre. Turn left onto A386 signposted “Torpoint Ferry”, and continue to follow signs.
Once across the ferry take the main road (A374) through Torpoint to Antony. Bear left onto the B3247 towards Crafthole. After approximately 1 mile, take the sharp left at the T-junction, towards Millbrook.
Continue past Millbrook on B3247, until signed off to the right for Kingsand and Cawsand, then follow signs for Kingsand (ie bear left). This road takes you into Kingsand, past the church-like community centre on the right hand side. Just past this bear left up the narrow ‘Lower Row'. Continue a short distance, and the second road on the right is the top of Heavitree Road. DO NOT attempt to drive down. Find somewhere to stop temporarily to unload and walk down 30 yards (careful, it is steep at the top) to find Chough Cottage on the right hand side.

If travelling across the Tamar bridge:
Take the left turn off the A38 at the Trerule Foot roundabout and pick up the above route via the A374.

The owners are not on site but there is an excellent fold flat bag barrow in the entrance hall to help you unload your bags. Having unloaded, drive back down ‘Lower Row' and turn sharp left down Fore Street to car park on the right at the bottom of the hill. Weekly tickets are £18 to £25. See:
